Shaq Explains His Beef With ‘Gay’ Dwight Howard

Shaquille O’Neal has never been a big fan of Dwight Howard.

The two men have lobbed shots at one another for years.

That said, nobody quite knows what the origin of their beef is. Everyone understands that one exists, but why it occurred isn’t wholly clear.

This week, Shaq addressed the matter in some capacity.

“All I said about young fella was he needs to average 28-15 and I don’t know how it get to ‘he don’t like me’. I’m like, that has nothing to do with it,” he said.

“Like, I’m telling you, how to Superman status. This is all you got to do every time. So, I kind of had to leave him alone, stay off him.”

Shaq didn’t stop there, though.

“If I put the information out, you don’t need to reach out. We don’t need to have a conversation,” he continued. “And I thought it was the ‘rite of passage’ thing. Because Wilt and Kareem did the same **** to me.”

Howard, meanwhile, has been in the headlines over the past few months over questions about whether he has or hasn’t been in ‘gay’ relationships with other men.

He has been embroiled in an ugly legal battle with someone named Ms. Kitty and a man named Stephen Harper over an unfortunate sexual encounter. When the facts of the case came out, Howard did not deny being gay. He simply asked for people to mind their own business.

Shaq, for his part, has never used Howard’s sexuality against him. His issues with the big man seem totally unrelated to that.

It will be interesting to see where Shaq’s relationship with Howard goes from here.

The pair has never been on the same page. Will that change at any point in the foreseeable future? Time will tell.
