It looks like Cheryl Reeve and the Team USA selection committee might be in a little trouble. For this one here, we got to go all the way down to Phoenix. Let’s get it, let’s go!

Cheryl Reeve's loss to Caitlin Clark has fans destroying her: She's so bitter | Marca

This is going to be a long month for Cheryl Reeve and the Team USA selection committee. What we witnessed yesterday was a massacre, and the WNBA team was clearly the better team on the court. Whoever selected these women to go to Paris should be ashamed. Now, Cheryl Reeve and a whole bunch of other people are making excuses for why this team was so bad. We’re going to jump into it right now, but I’m telling you, this is what I know: the Team USA selection committee is completely under fire.

Reports are starting to come out of the WNBA pipeline that people are not happy with the team they’re currently sending over there to Paris. It’s being reported that the Team USA selection committee is under extreme heat from WNBA fans following their loss in the All-Star Game. While the 2024 WNBA All-Star Weekend was extremely entertaining and one of the best in recent memory, it has led to a lot of controversy for Team USA.

There has already been prior drama with Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark’s absence from the team, but after Team WNBA’s victory, that drama has spread to other players. There were multiple players who succeeded in the game and proved they’re good enough to have a spot on Team USA’s roster. The Olympic team losing to players that all missed out on a spot isn’t a good look, to say the least, particularly for the selection committee.

As one fan pointed out, this is not a good look. We do know Dawn Staley is on this committee, Cheryl Reeve is on this committee, and everybody else is trying to be quiet like they’re not on the committee. From what I’m hearing, they’re quiet, they’re not trying to show their face or anything. But whatever the case may be, they have definitely dropped the ball. People are not happy. I say this once again: this is the team we’re sending to Paris, and we better hope like hell they win the gold. Because if they don’t, I can assure you the fans are going to make it clear that they were not happy about this decision.

As for Cheryl Reeve, she has been kind of making excuses about this whole thing. The commissioner opened up about the increase in everything across the league but didn’t give Caitlin Clark any praise. We have to roll it all out right now. Let’s get to the footage.

“You know, getting everybody here for the first time, we practiced a couple of times and played a game that we knew was going to be loaded with talent. We weren’t good at what we were trying to get done defensively, but we also know there are really good offensive players on the other side. Sometimes we played great defense and it didn’t matter.

What did I learn about them? I don’t necessarily know the answer to that just yet. I’m going to learn in the coming weeks what we learned from tonight and how we can use it to fuel us and be introspective about buying into what we’re trying to get done and how we all can collectively do better. Use tonight’s experience to put us in a position to be successful,” Reeve said.

In another part of the interview, she mentioned, “The challenges, and I told the group, you certainly don’t want to make excuses because we’ve all played basketball for a long time. But I’m big into muscle memory, and the muscle memory of a lot of our players playing for their existing teams that they just finished playing for. You come in and spend two days, and you’re not going to be able to instinctively get to those places if it’s different from what you’ve been doing. We’ve got to very, very quickly replace some things that you do for other teams.

And obviously, I think more of a collective effort defensively. We had a lot of one-on-one, little help, little rim protection. We do not want to give up what was it, 60 points in the paint? That was our greatest disappointment. We were kind of in the All-Star Game phase. We played more defense than a normal All-Star game, but that’s what it felt like. We just didn’t come out and compete to say we have a certain identity we’re trying to play to. I have to figure that out and help them get there.”

Moving on to the commissioner, she spoke about all the increases within the league and is ecstatic about them, which she has every right to be. But when you look at this thing with a clear vision, you have to give praise to Caitlin Clark. None of this stuff would be happening without Caitlin Clark. She went on a whole rant about all this stuff being increased like the league is just on fire because everybody all of a sudden loves the WNBA. No, that’s not the case. Your league is doing good because Caitlin Clark’s in your league. At least show her some appreciation.

I’m just saying, man, get down in the comments section and let me know your thoughts about this. Keep those notifications on because I’m going to bring you the news. Until next time, shake the haters off. I’m out of here. Peace!
