Jon Bon Jovi says he hasn’t spoken to Richie Sambora in 11 years, 11 years after the guitarist left the band during a global tour.

Jon Bon Jovi said he’s still ‘not in communication’ with Richie Sambora 11 years after their breakup, ruling out a reunion. Jon revealed that even an impending four-part documentary, Thank You Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story, could not repair his friendship with his former bandmate and close buddy of over 30 years. Due to Richie’s departure from the band, the Living on a Prayer singer told Ultimate Classic Rock he no longer speaks to him. He said he “had nothing to do with” Richie’s documentary participation. Despite their appearances in The Bon Jovi Story, the duo never reunited. The It’s My Life singer told Ultimate Classic Rock he no longer sees Richie.

He added “We’re not in contact because he’s not in the organisation any longer.” Jon said he “had nothing to do with” Richie’s role in the 40th anniversary series. Richie was interviewed in London. I wasn’t there — I had nothing to do with it.” Jon expressed “love” for his ex-bandmate despite the breakup. Jon and Richie last played together in 2018 for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction. Though they don’t talk, he feels “doesn’t mean that there’s not love forever”. He termed Richie a “wonderful friend” and “wonderful collaborator” in a 2016 People interview. He added, “I’m never going to bad mouth the guy.”
