Michael Jordan never needed anyone’s advice on the basketball court. He was the perfect basketball player, and some of his rivals said his game never had any weaknesses.

However, when it comes to being a parent, Jordan was at a loss when it was reported that his daughter Jasmine had a relationship with a woman while she was studying at Syracuse. Knowing he had to deal with her sexual preference at some point, Jordan turned to an old foe-turned-good-friend for help – Magic Johnson.

“Michael is having mixed emotions that his only daughter could be gay,” an insider revealed via The National Enquirer as reported by BSO. “Michael loves all of his kids unconditionally, but he was shocked to find out about Jasmine. He never saw it coming.”

MJ’s daughter dated a women’s basketball player

Michael Jordan's Daughter Didn't Know Why Her Dad Was So Famous

Jasmine is Mike’s only daughter from his first marriage with Juanita Vanoy. The former couple had three children, with the other kids being Jeffrey and Marcus. While the two boys chased their own basketball dreams, she decided to pursue a college degree at Syracuse.

In college, Jasmine dated Orange women’s basketball player Carmen Tyson-Thomas. This was speculation back then, but her now-deleted Instagram posts seemed to indicate she was gay. However, Jasmine confirmed this during a 2022 interview with Office Magazine.

“Mike must have been in a dilemma after learning about Jasmine’s relationship with Tyson-Thomas, and at that time, there was no better person to ask for advice than Magic, whose youngest son EJ is openly gay. According to the report, Magic’s advice to MJ was to ‘just love her and to let her know that she owes it to herself to be 100 percent genuine and to live her life to the fullest,'” they wrote.

She ended up getting engaged to former NBA player

After graduation, Jasmine ended up dating and getting involved with former NBA player Rakeem Christmas. He was a star player at Syracuse and was one of Jasmine’s first friends on campus. The two were always close but remained platonic until Rakeem realized he had feelings for her.

“Rakeem and I met at Syracuse in college,” she narrated. “He was my first friend on campus and we became best friends while we were there. It wasn’t until after we graduated, and after he went through the NBA draft, that he realized that he had feelings for me—and at first, I was like, that’s kind of weird [laughs]; we’re such close friends! But here we are three-and-a-half years later, engaged.”

Jasmine and Rakeem never got married. Although there is no confirmation, it looks like the two have gone separate ways. Before that, however, they left MJ with a trophy he never won before. On May 4, 2019, Jasmine gave birth to Michael Jordan’s first grandchild – Rakeem Michael or Keemie.
