Caitlin Clark joked that her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery, might be able to outshoot her in a sweet message for his birthday.

Taking to Instagram Saturday, the Fever rookie expressed her love for McCaffrey in a post, which featured a photo of the couple hugging on the court at Carver-Hawkeye Arena during their college days in Iowa.

“Happy Birthday Con! Celebrating you is easy 🙂 thankful to have someone as selfless and as loving as you in my life🖤,” Clark wrote. “May this be the year you finally find a way to outshoot me 😉 Love you always 🥺🤍.”

McCaffery, a former member of Iowa’s men’s basketball team and the son of Iowa men’s head coach Fran McCaffery, wrote, “And I’ll keep letting you win those shooting contests!!!!!” in the comments.

He also reposted one of Clark’s photos and added a fingers crossed emoji and a red heart emoji.

It came after Clark recorded seven assists in the first quarter of the Fever’s year 85-86 win against the Mercury on Friday — which broke the franchise record for most assists in a single quarter.

The All-Star point guard finished with 20 points, 13 assists, six rebounds, and two blocks.

Clark — who was one of only two rookies, along with the Sky’s Angel Reese, to be named to the 2024 WNBA All-Star team — also holds the new record for the most double-doubles in a season by a WNBA rookie guard with eight.

McCaffrey, who currently works as a team assistant for the Indiana Pacers, supported Clark during her playing days at Iowa, where she became the NCAA’s Division I all-time leading scorer for men’s and women’s basketball.

He often helps Clark train, and was seen rebounding for her while she practiced catch-and-shoot 3s after the Fever’s 91-84 win over the Atlanta Dream at Gainbridge Fieldhouse last month.

Clark and McCaffery celebrated one year together in April, she shared in a post on Instagram at the time.

The former Iowa product went public with their relationship when she shared photos of the couple on a boat together in August 2023.
