Caitlin Clark scooped up the ESPY Award for best women’s college athlete, then got some big praise from her professional team.

The Indiana Fever shared some congratulations to the sensational rookie on Thursday after she took home the honor at the annual ESPN awards show.

“left her mark at @IowaWBB,” the team shared in a post on X. “congratulations to Caitlin Clark for winning the ESPY for Best College Athlete”

Clark set a host of records in her final NCAA season at Iowa, becoming the all-time NCAA Division I scoring leader for both men’s and women’s basketball. She also went down as the most storied player in Iowa women’s basketball history, setting the scoring record and becoming just the third player in program history to have her jersey retired.

Though Clark is just a few months removed from the end of her college career, she has already made her mark on the WNBA as well. She recently became the first rookie in league history to record a triple-double and is seen as the odds-on favorite to take home WNBA Rookie of the Year.

Clark captured plenty of spotlight at the ESPY Awards, with host Serena Williams comparing her to another NBA great from Indiana.

“Caitlin Clark had an amazing year and is nominated for three awards,” Williams said. “Caitlin, you are Larry Bird in that you’re an amazing player, you have ties to Indiana and white people are really crazy about you.”
