Caitlin Clark Silences Haters After Revealing Severity of Ear Injury Against Liberty

Following the Indiana Fever’s 104-68 loss to the New York Liberty on June 2, Caitlin Clark was slammed not just for her poor performance, but also for leaving the game early with an ear injury.

Haters ripped Clark for complaining about what appeared to be a slight earache and using it as an excuse to exit the matchup. During the loss, Clark shot 1-of-10 from the field and 1-of-7 from deep.

Clark clutched her ear in pain after getting bumped on a screen in the fourth quarter. Indiana didn’t have another game until June 7, so she never missed a game or spoke publicly about the ear injury.

Talking with reporters on June 21, however, the rookie addressed just how much pain she was in before leaving the game.

Turns out the No. 1 pick ruptured her ear drum. Clark only recalled the injury when asked about her “Welcome to the NBA” moment.

“I’ve been popped on a couple screens, actually ruptured my ear drum when we were in New York on a tough screen, so I have to pick that,” she said. “Great screens! I just couldn’t hear them, so it’s kind of my own fault.”

Clark famously never missed a game during her four-year tenure with the Iowa Hawkeyes. For her to leave a game early, the pain must’ve been beyond unmanageable.
