Caitlin Clark Cherishes Love From Kate Martin as Aces Teammates and Fans Prove Wholesome Bond With the Rookie

Iowa’s basketball program couldn’t have been more proud. As Caitlin Clark has lived up to her college basketball hype as a rookie, hardly anyone could ignore the significant contributions made by her former teammate Kate Martin for the defending champions. And perhaps the 18th overall draft pick is grateful for the opportunity provided to realize her dreams through such a platform. So much so, that she doesn’t shy away from sharing it among her well-wishers. And there is no doubt that the list also includes her BFF.

A delighted Kate Martin recently posted a very euphoric post on her official Instagram handle. Seemingly, the post features multiple pictures of her memorable moments ever since she became a part of the Aces roster. “I love my job,” she captioned her post. One part of it obviously is squaring off against the NCAA Division I all-time leading scorer Caitlin Clark. Following this, her previous locker room buddy wasted no time in embracing this special gesture and shared it as one of her stories.

Soon after, reactions started pouring in. This included not only the fans but also her current as well as former teammates. As it turns out, Clark didn’t miss out on being the first one to put forth her thoughts. She expressed her love for Martin with the help of 🖤🖤 and 🥹🥹 emojis. In addition to this, the current Hawkeye No.4 Kylie Feuerbach acknowledged her awesomeness and revealed that she misses her. A similar emotion was displayed by Sydney Affolter as well.

Meanwhile, Martin’s fellow Aces were not far behind in showcasing their affection towards the rookie. While the team’s point guard Sydney Colson decided to go with 😊😊, the squad’s prolific scorer A’ja Wilson double-hearted it in Aces colors. Meanwhile, the 2023 WNBA Sixth Player of the Year Alysha Clark wrote, “Good! 13 more to go 😂🫶🏽.” She might be indicating the number of seasons Martin might spend with Las Vegas.

Anyhow, these were not the only comments that were worth noticing.

Caitlin Clark’s former teammate wins over Las Vegas fans

Kate Martin had earlier revealed that she was present at the 2024 WNBA drafts only to support Caitlin Clark. However, things took a delightful turn in the second round. Evidently, the Aces thought that she would be a suitable rookie for them in their quest for a three-peat. As a result, it was an instrumental reason for joy not only for her but also for her supporters. One of them conveyed it by writing, “Kate went from being unsure if she wants to continue with college basketball to being drafted by one of the best teams in wnba.”

A popular narrative these days in the WNBA is that rookies like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese and grabbed more eyeballs for the sport. The massive surge in popularity was evident by the fact that their previous encounter garnered a peaked viewership of 3.3 million while their June 16 clash had 2.25 million people tuning in on CBS. Still, one fan confessed that it is Kate Martin who is the star to watch out for. The comment read, “Watching the WNBA literally because of you! 👏👏👏let’s go money Martin.”

In an interview, Kate Martin conveyed that she along with former Iowa standout Caitlin Clark are living their dream. They couldn’t have asked for more given the respective state of careers they are having currently. Some of the fans agreed with this point and reflected the thought in their comments. One of them wrote, “livin the dream”.

Kate Martin has been a part of 19 Aces games. In these appearances, she has hit a total of 70 points, grabbed 41 rebounds and dished out 22 assists. On top of that, she has connected 18 out of her 47 beyond-the-arc attempts. These numbers are enough to cause elation for the Aces’ supporters. Therefore, one of them expressed, “i love your job too”.

Many analysts believe that there is a great boost to the team’s momentum with the introduction of Kate Martin into the game. Probably because she has a great passion and a desire to be the best. Further, despite the team’s loss against the Sparks, the commentators of the night Krista Blunk and Carolyn Peck were off their seats the moment they witnessed Martin burying some 3-pointers. Some of the fans were also thrilled by it as one of them wrote, “Loving the fire and passion you bring to the court. Go Aces!”

Many would believe that the Las Vegas Aces struck a bargain while recruiting Kate Martin. Her addition has worked wonders for them and can prove to be crucial in the upcoming days. At the same time, fans are also satisfied with what she is bringing to the table for the franchise.
