As Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark has set a number of WNBA and franchise records this season, she also reached a more ignominious mark — the all-time league record for turnovers in a season.

Despite the struggles with ball security, commentator Colin Cowherd delivered a strong message to the rookie, advising Clark to keep her foot on the gas.

“Swing big,” he said on The Herd with Colin Cowherd this week.

Cowherd went on to compare Clark to an NFL quarterback, saying the best ones remain aggressive and don’t let mistakes bog them down.

“Don’t be paralyzed by mistakes. If you play fast, play aggressive, you throw picks,” he said.

The commentator added a comparison to Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, noting that amid his successes like the iPhone were other products that fell flat. But Jobs didn’t let failures keep him from trying again, and Cowherd said Clark must keep the same mentality.

“People that are worried about mistakes and failures and missing, so many people don’t want to be humiliated, they don’t want to be embarrassed,” Cowherd said. “Take a swing.”

Cowherd added that Clark also has to deal with an uneven Fever team, noting that she has had plenty of success amid the rookie struggles. While she is leading the league in turnovers per game, Clark’s 7.8 assists per game also lead the WNBA.
