Basketball fans were both equally impressed and unimpressed with the WNBA All-Star team’s win over the US women’s Olympic roster on social media.

After Saturday’s 117-109 final score in Phoenix, many took to X to blasts Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese’s omissions from the Paris 2024 roster, as the two rivals showed the world that they can play together.

What makes matters worse for Team USA is that both Clark and Reese are favorites for the league’s Rookie of the Year award.

Clark had just four points against the US, but set the rookie record of assists in an All-Star Game (10). She was just two short of the all-time high (12) set by Sue Bird, while Reese became the first rookie with a double-double (12 points, 11 rebounds) in history.

‘Team USA just lost to Caitlin Clark, Angel Reese and the WNBA All Star. Maybe we sending the wrong team to to the Olympics,’ a user on X posted after the outcome of this weekend’s game.

‘Dude, I’m shocked! I know our girls can ball, but Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese are straight fire! The WNBA All-Stars came at us strong. Maybe its time for a roster shake-up before the Olympics? We c,’ another person shared.

‘Team WNBA beating Team USA is NOT a good look for the selection,’ someone else wrote.

‘Amazing what a chip on your shoulder can do for you,’ a user shared. ‘The 12 best women’s hoopers in the world (Team USA) just got cooked by 12 women who were told they weren’t good enough, the WNBA All-Stars.’ What a showcase for women’s basketball. Leave Caitlin Clark off the team again.

‘I dare you,’ he added.

Some NBA fans also want to see the league draw inspiration from the format of the WNBA All-Star Game.

‘team usa vs wnba is such an incredible format because it’s filled with beef and the beef along is fueling a competitive game when everyone is giving their all,’ a user said, as he also pointed out that ‘the nba has been trying to get this for decades.’

‘The WNBA Allstar game is more entertaining than the NBA Allstar game!!!’ someone else wrote.

‘You see how dejected and pissed Team USA looks at losing this WNBA All Star Game? THAT’S competition,’ another person shared.

He added: ‘NBA All Star Game they would’ve been exchanging numbers mid-way through the 4th quarter,’ another person shared.
