Public figures such as Angel Reese face constant scrutiny. The Chicago Sky rookie realized just how closely people are watching when a conversation among friends went viral.

Earlier this week, Reese sat courtside next to former teammate Kysre Gondrezick and Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown at an NBA Summer League game in Las Vegas. The cameras appeared to catch Brown and Gondrezick discussing Bronny James.

Lip-readers determined that Brown seemingly said, “I don’t think Bronny is a pro.” Gondrezick appeared to predict that the Los Angeles Lakers rookie will play in the G-League.

Reese avoided any drama, as she didn’t say anything in the clip that went viral. However, she and her social circle still used the incident as a teaching moment.

ESPN showed Reese in the crowd for another Summer League matchup on Thursday night. This time, Nyla Jackson covered her mouth when saying something to Reese.

“We done learned our lesson lmaooooo,” Reese said in response to a video capturing the moment.

On Tuesday, Brown attempted to do damage control by sharing a kinder assessment of Bronny’s future.

“It’s a flex to have your son alongside you in the NBA,” Brown wrote. “It reflects greatness and longevity! Bronny has all the tools around him to be successful. I look forward to watching his growth.”

Bronny has been under a massive microscope his entire basketball career due to his father

The incident put Reese on higher alert to watch anything she and her friends say and do in the public sphere. She’ll step into another bright spotlight during Saturday’s WNBA All-Star Game in Phoenix.
