Bronny James appeared in 25 games last season for USC
BRONNY James is reportedly taking his talents to another school after one season at the University of Southern California.
The son of Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James “plans” to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to a report from Dick Weiss.

The Hall of Fame sports writer shared on X, on Tuesday, the news that Bronny was leaving USC and looking for a new school.
“USC freshman guard Bronny James is entering the transfer portal,” Weiss reported.
“Good for him. Needs to get away from the Hollywood hype. Best of luck to LeBron’s kid.”
Bronny played in 25 games for the school, starting six times.
In his freshman year, James averaged 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 19.4 minutes per game.
His transfer from USC shouldn’t come as a huge surprise since the school lost the men’s basketball coach, Andy Enfield, who left the program for a new job at SMU.
Enfield spent 11 seasons with the university and recruited James.
Bronny had a delayed start to his college career after he suffered a medical emergency last year in July when his heart stopped during a practice on USC’s campus.
He was diagnosed with a treatable congenital heart defect and returned to play on December 10 against Long Beach State.
Bronny’s rumored transfer is amid the recent retirement hints his father has been dropping.
Over the weekend, LeBron expressed that his NBA days are numbered after being asked how much longer he sees himself playing.
“Not very long,” James said.
“I’m on the other side, obviously, of the hill, so I’m not going to play another 20 years, that’s for d**n sure.”
“But not very long. I don’t know when that door will close as far as when I’ll retire.”
“But I don’t have much time left.”
Despite Lebron’s comments about possibly walking away from the game soon, he has also been very open about his desire to play with Bronny when he makes it to the league.
In Feburary, NBA insider Marc Stein reported that he heard rumors of teams thinking of ways they could lure James if he left the Lakers, and drafting Bronny is one of them.
“I know of at least two teams on the NBA map that believe LeBron James would consider signing with them at far less than $51.4 million if Bronny James is on the roster. ”
It’s unclear what is next for Bronny if he will indeed enter the transfer portal or take a professional route.
ESPN released a two-round 2024 NBA mock draft in Feburary ahead of March Madness and had Bronny going undrafted.
