Dakota Johnson gets praised for not doing what Brie Larson did.

“Honesty instead of blaming the audience is refreshing”: Dakota Johnson Wins Hearts Despite Madame Web Failure for Not Using Brie Larson’s ‘Excuses’

Dakota Johnson recently mentioned that she does not blame fans for not liking Madame Web.
This has caused many to praise her for being honest about her feelings towards the film, as fans brought up Brie Larson’s past comments.

Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web has been extremely disappointing for Marvel fans. Ever since its release, there has been considerable criticism of the film. However, the one thing that has stayed consistent is a lack of interest from a majority of fans. The negative conversation around the film has become so great that it cannot be brushed past during the film’s press tour.

Almost the entire cast of the film has spoken out about the poor performance in some way or the other. Johnson, on the other hand, has been very vocal. A recent comment by her about the film’s failure has caused many to praise her. Some even compared the comment to how Brie Larson handled the disappointment of The Marvels, praising the Fifty Shades of Grey actress.

Dakota Johnson Spoke Up On Madame Web’s Unfortunate Reviews

During an interview with Bustle, Dakota Johnson talked about what she thinks is to blame for the misfortune of Madame Web. The actress had a very clear answer; she believes that executives and committees being involved in art is always going to reduce its quality. Rather than making something that will make their audiences feel things, they are far too focused on “numbers and algorithms”.

“Films are made by a filmmaker and a team of artists around them. You cannot make art based on numbers and algorithms. My feeling has been for a long time that audiences are extremely smart, and executives have started to believe that they’re not.”
She also talked about how she has learned from her experience in the film, realizing that she should not do a film like this again as she does not fit in a superhero world.

“But it was a real learning experience, and of course it’s not nice to be a part of something that’s ripped to shreds, but I can’t say that I don’t understand.”
Johnson finished by saying that even though she understands the criticism that the film is getting, she cannot help but feel bad about being a part of something that people dislike so much. Regardless, the hate that the film is getting does not come as a surprise to her.

Marvel Fans And Their Destain For Brie Larson

While Dakota Johnson did not attempt to start any beef with her Marvel co-stars, fans could not help but put her response to the hate her film got, next to Brie Larson’s response for The Marvels. The Room actress famously stated that she believed the reason why her 2023 film was getting as much hate as it was, was because of sexist fans who did not appreciate female stories being told.
