While the two had nothing to do with each other onscreen, off-screen Mark Ruffalo and Josh Brolin shared a great bond.
And Ruffalo came to Brolin’s aid during the filming of Avengers: Endgame after the Dune Star forgot his lines.

While onscreen, Hulk and Thanos weren’t too keen on being in each other’s presence, like most MCU stars, Mark Ruffalo and Josh Brolin shared a wholesome bond off-screen. Brolin, who has now jumped onto another acclaimed sci-fi IP (Dune) since leaving the MCU, recently reflected on his time with the person he severely beat up during the opening minutes of Infinity War.

Although Brolin did an impeccable job playing the MCU’s best villain, he had a little humiliating moment in Endgame, but thanks to Ruffalo’s brilliant memory, he was able to mitigate the situation.

Speaking with GQ, Josh Brolin recounted forgetting his line while filming Avengers: Endgame, but fortunately for him, Professor Hulk was there to save the day. While Mark Ruffalo is undoubtedly one of the best actors to step foot in the MCU, he also seems to have a pretty sharp memory. Not only did he have his own lines memorized, but he also remembered his costars’ lines. And this came in handy when, unlike the Poor Things Star, Josh Brolin had a hard time recalling his lines, as Ruffalo saved him from further embarrassment.

Apart from commending Ruffalo’s memory, Josh Brolin also lauded the actor as the nicest person in the world, as he deemed this instance his favorite memory from his time filming the Avengers flicks.
