Caitlin Clark Dropped the Mic With Passionate Sermon About Serena Williams, ESPYs

Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever face off against the Phoenix Mercury on Friday.

Clark spoke with the media prior to the game. And among the topics she discussed was the ESPYs, which took place on Thursday night.

The Fever rookie won two awards during the ceremony; one for “Best Record-Breaking Performance” and another for “Best Women’s College Athlete” (the latter of which was her second consecutive time winning).

But Clark was more eager to talk about the performance of ESPYs host Serena Williams, and how women’s sports as a whole was featured during the award show — which she noted that she watched alone on the couch.

“Something that really stood out to me was like how much women’s basketball was a part of the show,” Clark said, per Matthew Byrne. “I think shows where women’s basketball is going & obviously women’s athletics in general.”

Clark also added that, “Obviously Serena [Williams] did a tremendous job hosting” but wondered aloud how Williams never won the Best Record-Breaking Performance award, considering that Clark was the first women to ever do so.

The 22-year-old rookie is always great on the microphone. And she deserved a mic drop after these comments.
