Bronny had struggled from the field in his previous four starts in a Lakers uniform.

He went 0-15 from three-point range and scored just 2 points from 25 minutes on the court in Monday’s loss against the Boston Celtics.

The 19-year-old looked fluid and relaxed as he turned his stats around on Wednesday against the Hawks.

Bronny went 5-of-11 from the field, ending his three-point drought with two long-range jumpers.

Following the Lakers’ win—the first in the 2024 Summer League to snap a 0-5 streak—Bronny revealed his dad, LeBron, ‘s helpful words of encouragement.

“My mom, my dad really help me, encouraging me to stay focused and keep being myself,” James said via ESPN.

“So I feel like that’s a big part of how I came out [tonight].

“[He told me] just stay aggressive.

“Even though my shot hasn’t been falling, just staying aggressive.”

Bronny was selected as the No. 55 overall pick by the Lakers in last month’s NBA Draft.

He has been met with huge crowds in Vegas and was pleased to answer some of his critics with a strong outing.

“It’s something,” Bronny said, regarding the intense interest in his performances.

“But it’s something I’ve got to deal with if I’m going to play at this level.”

James sank a clutch three-pointer late in the game to tie the score before the Lakers clinched the win.

Bronny fears

Bronny James has had a rough go of things during the Summer League – and fans began to worry for the rookie.

A social media clip of Bronny during a 88-74 loss to the Celtics went viral as the 2024 second-round pick also air-balled a three-point shot as the clock expired.

The 19-year-old didn’t fare well in the contest, scoring just two points on 1-of-5 shooting, three rebounds, one assist, two turnovers, and three fouls.

“I genuinely feel sorry for Bronny. this is BAD,” one commented.

“He’s gotta be nervous,” another wrote.

“It’ll get better from here,” a third stated.

Los Angeles center Colins Castleton led the team with 17 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists.

And Castleton is confident the rookie can kick on from Wednesday’s win at the Thomas & Mack Center.

“I think he’s stepping into a good role,” Castleton said.

“It takes a little bit of time. He has a lot of pressure, a lot of things on him. So he has a great mindset.

“He’s a great kid, great teammate, and we love being around him.

“Everybody in the organization loves being around him and he took great shots tonight and just got a good rhythm.”
