James Reportedly Agreed to Sign a Two-Year, $104 Million Max Deal

After deciding to leave his previous contract on Saturday, King James’ agent, Rich Paul, stated in a recent interview with ESPN that James was willing to discuss a deal that was for less than the maximum amount he could sign.

James recently mentioned that he was willing to make financial sacrifices in order to improve the Lakers’ roster by adding some free agents. Ultimately, the four-time NBA Champion reportedly agreed to sign a two-year, $104 million max deal with the Lakers, one day after his son Bronny James agreed to a two-year guaranteed deal with the Lakers.

However, Bronny faced criticism from some NBA analysts and fans who believed that his selection was influenced by his dad, leading to accusations of nepotism.

James quickly became the face of the Lakers when he joined the franchise on July 9, 2018.

The 39-year-old star player quickly secured his position in the team and started delivering dominant performances. Despite suffering a groin injury in his first season with the Lakers, he managed to average 27.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 8.3 assists per game.

In the 2019-20 season, the Lakers made a great decision to add Anthony Davis to the roster to support King James, which turned out to be the most successful move by the franchise.

James clinched his fourth championship during that season and also earned his fourth Finals MVP award.
