Although Shams Charania specializes in breaking major news, he recently offered his opinions on the GOAT debate.

During an appearance on the most recent episode of The OGs Show, he was asked who he thought was the best player of all time.

He chose Kobe Bryant above Michael Jordan.

Charania’s assertion that Jordan cannot be his GOAT is reasonable because he never witnessed the Chicago Bulls legend at his peak.

Growing up, Bryant was the player he watched dominate on the floor. He was also influenced by the Los Angeles Lakers icon’s mindset and demeanor.

Shams Charania said, “So for me, growing up, when MJ won his six championships, I was four years old. So, it’s hard for me to—people are like, ‘Yo, watch the YouTube videos and watch the games over.’

Like, it’s an experience. I feel like the greatest of all time is an experience, right?”

He added, “For me growing up, Kobe was someone that I watched very closely and the Mamba Mentality, killer instinct.

I feel like some of those attributes, I felt like as a young, minority, parents from Pakistani background. I felt like I could apply some of that in my daily life.

The killer mentality, and just go get it-ness every single day. So for me, that was something that I gravitated toward.”

Bryant’s NBA career was remarkable. In his 20 seasons with the Lakers, he won five championships, two MVPs in the Finals, an MVP, and two scoring titles.

Bryant was selected for 12 All-Defensive teams and 18 All-Star teams. Although there is disagreement on Bryant’s position on the all-time list, there is no denying that he is among the greatest players in history.

Shams Charania Is Not The Only One Claiming To Be His GOAT

Bryant isn’t considered the greatest by many NBA fans or the media regarding the players. Many players today consider Kobe their all-time great because of his profound influence on this generation.

According to James Harden, Bryant is the player who made him fall in love with the game. Harden also declared Bryant his GOAT.

On the other hand, Kyrie Irving asserted that Kobe is the best player of all time and stated he could care less about any statistics that might lead one to believe differently.

George summed it up perfectly. Even though Bryant is their all-time great, they admit that Jordan was superior to him.

During his NBA career, the legendary Bulls player earned ten scoring crowns, six titles, five MVPs, and six Finals MVPs.

In the 1990s, he was the only player to dominate the NBA in a way never seen before or since.
